What is Bokeh?
(BOH-kay)

Have you ever noticed how some photos have blurry backgrounds, or foregrounds, while the rest of the photo is maintained in focus?  This blurred effect is known as "bokeh."  Originally done as a mistake in photography, as modern art has progressed, so has the usage of bokeh to obtain a "dreamy" and soothing feeling in photos.  Sometimes bokeh is utilized to direct the viewers attention to certain section of a photo which extracts a different meaning versus if the entire photo was in focus.

Why Photography?

" I travel the path others take to capture the memories they forget"

How many times have you seen something and the only way to share your experience is by recalling it from a memory? I felt that some of my memories needed to be actually captured. This inspired me to begin studying photography. I began educating myself with a multitude of books from well known photographers such as Tom Ang and Ansel Adams before picking up my first camera. Knowing photography from an educational point before an artist has really helped me to prosper in my creativity.

Breaking in the Gear

If you have ever became interested in photography, then you know it can be an expensive hobby. I bought my first professional camera in 2020, a Nikon Z7, which is a 45.7MP Full-frame mirrorless camera.  This was during Nikon's debut breakthrough into the mirrorless camera world. By this time I had been adamantly studying and learning the science of photography, knew all the pertinent specifications and functions of the Z7 and I was ready to actually put it to use.  Shortly after buying my camera, I did what any beginner photographer would do; I drove from Miami Beach, FL to the Colorado Rockies during the winter time.  As crazy as it may sound, it was perfect.  So many difficulties arose which I had to try to conquer able such as photography of a white subject in the snow.  Luckily, with the years of books in my mind, I had a general idea of what to do before pressing the shutter.  That set the baseline for my art and from there I knew I only had to improve.  This has caused me to be the biggest critic against myself.  No matter how "beautiful" my photos may look to someone else, I will personally find something wrong with it that I will look to overcome.  This puts me in a mindset which allows me to be someone always willing to learn more.  Now, I am shooting with a Nikon Z8 and have been fortunate enough to have a vast array of S-Line lens.  I feel I need to give my Z8 the same travel treatment I did with the Z7 with an even better experience.  But to where...

    My Goal

I am a very avid traveler.  I spent over 15 years serving with the U.S. Armed Forces, and was raised as a military dependent.  Towards the ending of my military career I began utilizing the military's opportunity for travel for capturing the planets' beauty and took one final tour to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Now, I desire to utilize my desire in travel and ability to create everlasting photos to pursue a path in destination photography for weddings and special events.
